Shingled Roof Idea For Holiday Gingerbread House

  • 1 min read

Does your holiday gingerbread house end up with random globs of royal icing on the roof? 🏠 This year, remodel it with this out-of-the-bag decorating idea from Popchips!

What You'll Need:

  • Royal Icing
  • Aged White Cheddar Popchips
  • Gingerbread House

Instructions:

  1. First, count out how many rows and shingles in each row you'll need to cover the roof.
  2. Next, starting at the bottom of the roof, put a dime-sized squeeze of royal icing on the house, then place a Popchip on top of the icing and press gently. Repeat until the row is complete.
  3. Move up to the next row and repeat until the roof is covered. Remember to slightly overlap each row to create the shingled effect.

Why We Like It:

This shingled roof idea is an excellent project for Santa's helpful little elves. 🎅 🧝‍♀️ 🧝 We used Aged White Cheddar Popchips in the photo because this flavor has a slightly powdered coating that looks like freshly fallen snow. ❄️ Bonus: Working on candy houses is fun but very sugary. It's nice to have a salty, cheesy, better-for-you snack like Popchips at hand for building and munching!
